Food product claims

Food product claims are claims made by manufacturers about their products regarding the qualities of the food. The claims can be about the weight loss capability of the food. Like, some manufacturers claim that their product is 100% fat free and by eating this product, a person can loss weight which is not true. Certain manufacturers also claim that their can-food products can reduce the risks of occurrence of certain diseases. These therapeutic food product claims are usually found to be false.

The FDA continuously tries to administer whether the claims made by certain manufacturers are in adherence with their guidelines. The guidelines to a particular food product necessitate that certain rules should be followed while labelling and marketing the product. Many of such food product claims are found to be spurious and marketing gimmicks in order to make certain sections of the society eat the food product. The recipe of the microwave butter popcorn had to be changed to remove this ingredient. Sometimes processed foods can also be contaminated and lead to food poisoning in the eater.
